Our topic next term is ‘The Earth- Our Home’. We will be exploring a range habitats and how to care for wildlife and look after our environment. In Science, the children will be finding out about the plants and animals that live in the British countryside. We will be looking at different types of trees and how they provide food and shelter for woodland creatures.
In Technology, we will be making our own nesting boxes and bird feeders. During this Topic, weather depending, we will be spending some sessions outside in the Wild Flower Meadow.
If your child has a pair of old wellies that they could leave in school it would be much appreciated.
In English next term we will be exploring the books ‘Dear Zoo’ and ‘Farmer Duck’. We will be writing our own letters to Dartmoor Zoo about our chosen animal and writing an alternative story about our own farmyard animal. We will continue to practise handwriting daily, using the cursive style so that children develop speed and confidence with their writing.
Maths will focus on addition and subtraction and the formation of each number. We will also be recognising 2D and 3D shapes and being able to explain their properties.
PE this term will be on a Wednesday for 1JF and 1SJ so can you please ensure your child has a PE kit and water bottle in school on these days.
