Our Topic learning for Term 6 will be ‘What’s on the Menu’.
In Geography, we’ll be finding out about restaurants in the local area; where our food comes from; which foods are produced locally and how food travels to the shop or supermarket. In Science, we will explore how fruits and vegetables grow; how we can grow our own food in the classroom and why a balanced diet is important.
In Design and Technology we will look at creating a healthy menu for a restaurant.
We will consider everyday recipes and identify ways in which they might be improved. For our learning in Art we will be making close observational studies of fruit and vegetables, creating collages and experimenting with fruit and vegetable printing.
In English, we will prepare a balanced argument to answer the question, Should animals be kept in zoos?
We will also develop our fiction writing skills through The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton. In Maths, we will focus on time, money, fractions and statistics.
Homework books will be sent home each Friday and children are expected to bring in one piece of completed homework each week. Please continue to listen to your child read at least three times a week and help them to learn their weekly spellings.
Your child will take part in weekly PE lessons and therefore their PE kits will be required to be in school at all times.
This term our family homework is to grow your own food.
