This term, Year 6 will be following a unit of work that focuses on ‘Black Gold’. In Science, we will be finding out how oil is formed and trapped underground and ways we can extract different products from crude oil. In Geography, we will learn about where oil is found and why it is so important. Throughout this unit, we will also be exploring environmental issues such as oil spills, including the impact on wildlife and how they are cleaned up.
In English, we will be planning our own theme park called DinoWorld. We will write our own information leaflet to persuade readers to visit this exciting new attraction. In Maths, we will explore various investigations and problem-solving questions to consolidate our learning throughout this year.
Homework expectations include reading at least three times a week and completing a weekly spelling sheet. In addition, children will need to complete one piece of English and Maths homework per week, which should be handed in every Thursday. Homework books will be returned to you on the same day. We would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the Parents/Carers who continue to support their child's learning at home, it really helps them to make even better progress.
PE this term will remain the same for both classes: Wednesdays for 6AMc and Thursdays for 6DT. As we move towards the summer months, please ensure your child is wearing sun cream and a hat if necessary.
